I so love that sound. The anticipation of connecting! I worked for an ISP in Newport Beach, CA in 1995 and saw the modem banks that customers would connect to. Then again at a friend's ISP in San Diego. I took a picture of his phone bank. He was paranoid because he wanted to keep his backroom secret. As a joke I e-mailed the picture to him and he immediately went on my computer and made sure I deleted. I told him to hang onto that picture so he could remember what tech was like in 1996. I wonder if he still has the picture?

There are multiple parts to these videos if you search for them. I worked for Digex in 1994 for a few months in Newport Beach, CA but never knew anyone on the East coast. Although a gentleman from the East coast interviewed me. I forgot his name. I was the only employee of Digex on the West coast except for my boss who was running an office maybe partnership with them. The West coast split to start a different company called Realm Internet Systems. Realm grew into a larger office and then went bankrupt 2 years later. I have a video from Realm's investor conference. I should upload the video. It's cool if you like tech history.
Pipeline I believe was the first ISP to provide a graphical interface to the Internet.
In my opinion, when Yahoo allowed Google to run their search engine this hurt the company in many ways.
